Charity Event Experiences

Nick was brilliant! His magic was mesmerising, his humour hilarious and his performance was astonishing! As well as helping to raise money with his shows at our charity ball, he also donated some very special and exclusive prizes to our silent auction.

Want to raise more money at your next charity fundraising event?

If any of the following sounds familiar to you, I can probably help:

  • We're planning a large scale charity event.
  • We want the people at our events to donate more money.
  • We need new ideas of how to incentivise the people at our events to give more generously.
  • We need to raise as much money as possible and only have a limited budget to work with, so we have approached lots of suppliers and asked them to donate their time for free, in the hope it will help enhance our event without eating into the amount we raise on the day.

Your main objective for holding your event is likely to be raising awareness and funds for your charitable cause.

So, what makes people  give more generously?

People don't just donate because you shake a bucket or a tin around. Those that do give generously can usually afford to and do so often of their own accord but what about everybody else?

Often people are embarrassed about money, even when donating to charity. This means people don't really know how much to give and often results in them bashfully emptying their loose pocket change along with a couple of broken buttons and an old stick of gum into the charity bucket, hoping to get the awkward interaction over with quickly whilst looking like they have done the right thing.

What's the secret to getting people to give more?

I started my career as a street performer in the world famous Covent Garden, London. There I learnt quickly that, to survive in this business, you need to become an expert at three things.

  1. Attracting crowds
  2. Holding their attention for a long period of time
  3. Make them want to pay you the maximum they can afford to give

but How do you do that?

  1. Make them laugh! Laughter is the key to generosity. That's why Comic Relief is so successful. If youre having a good time you're far more likely to feel generous than when you're being guilted.
  2. Tell them how much to give. Next time you see an advert asking for a donation, pay attention to how much it asks you to pay. It will likely be a specific ammount. If you ask for spare change you will get spare change. If you ask for a £5 note, they are most likely to give you a £5 note. It's quite simple when you think about it. If you ask someone for a £1 coin they are unlikely to offer you a £10 note instead, even if they could afford to give that much, however if you ask for a £10 and they don't have one, they will still offer to give a £5 or at least £1 or £2.

how will I make your event more successful?

Well, at the heart of what I do is a simple idea. I make people laugh, give them a uniquely amazing and enjoyable experience and afterwards I will ask them for a donation. After spending time laughing, being entertained by and building a positive raport with me,  I remind them about the important cause we are there to support, which makes them happy to donate more generously.

Whenever I perform at charity functions I'm able to contribute in 3 ways:

  1. Performing and collecting donations for your cause
  2. Donating unique and exclusive prizes for your raffles and auctions.
  3. Making a public donation to your charity on the day (this is much more effective in encouraging others to give than simply offering a discount when you book me.

why me?

I have over 10 years experience in performing as a street performer and over 7 years experience working with charities to raise awareness and financial support for their causes. In the past, I've been booked by the NSPCC to perform at their Charity Ball to entertain guests with close up magic and a cabaret show and I was able to raise a considerable amount of money for them with my performances as well as donating a masterclass experience as a lottery prize.

If you are interested in booking me for your event, please see my packages and fees below.
